Is civil war the inevitable outcome of the current indirect GOP Coup D’état and will the U.S. Military be our saviors or our enemies?
WE THE PEOPLE are victims of an indirect GOP Coup D’état. It is hard for Americans to accept that a GOP coup has occurred within our current circumstances of government that has directly deposed the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches of the U.S. government. However, it is becoming more and more evident each day that there was an indirect kind of coup staged by the GOP, where the GOP covertly injected Russian propaganda into the media to influence in their favor the outcomes of our Mid-Term and Presidential elections.
As a result, all of the normal constitutional safeguards and checks and balances within and outside of all branches of the government intended to protect the country from just such a coup are now under the control of the GOP. Historically the US has been politically stable because of its belief in the uncompromising effectiveness of these constitutional safeguards. The GOP coup has torn asunder that belief and left most Americans to realize that the constitution has been sold out and that our only constitutional tool left to set things right again may be our use of our military.
The U.S. Military has never existed as an island onto itself and is very strongly indoctrinated to follow the legal constitutional orders of the country’s civilian leadership. Historically the military has been an organization driven by a culture and training heavily influenced by civilian controls, a chain of command, the constitution, the protection of liberty, and their duty and responsibilities to the nation. Historically, there is no real nationwide precedence for just how the U.S. Military might actually invoke it’s authority to carry out these responsibilities or how the civilian government would be expected to respond in such a time of national crisis.
Could the US military as an institution, under the command of a cohesive majority of citizen’s leadership, successfully invoke nationwide military authority over the existing civilian GOP controlled government? The answer to this question may very well face many Americans in the immediate future.
Given the current total GOP control of our civilian federal and state governments invoking nationwide U.S. Military authority would require a nationwide catalyst involving a majority of popular support of Americans, the supplanting of the chief executive, the congress, the judiciary and the ordering of new Presidential and Mid-Term nationwide elections.
The occurrence of just such a nationwide catalyst could force the U.S. Military into invoking their authority if the Joint Chiefs of Staff believes the civilian government is under a foreign enemy attack or a decision (or group of decisions) by the civilian government is so far outside of the majority popular consensus of what is constitutional that a call for nationwide military authority is the only option for saving the Republic.
What would it take to spark a movement involving a majority of popular support of Americans to support a nationwide military authority taking control? Major nationwide civil strife! A total breakdown of order and the rule of law across the entire country! Incidences of state level Martial Law being declared! The killing of peaceful citizen protesters in multiple incidences by police and/or military authorities! Pushing the country to the brink of civil war! Are Americans prepared to pay such a steep price to take back control of their country/democracy from the GOP? The answer to this question may very well face many Americans in the immediate future.
The supplanting of the chief executive, the congress, and the judiciary would first require the successful implementation of a nationwide military authority which would in and of itself require the support of the full Joint Chiefs of Staff (Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard or Air Force), the support of various federal counterintelligence agencies within and outside of the military (NSA, DOJ, FBI, Secret Service, etc.), as well as the support of various statewide agencies (National Guard, Air National Guards) and the support of multiple state and local law enforcement agencies. All of which would be required to be in support of and supposedly acting under the general direction of a majority of popular support of Americans. Are Americans prepared to clean house in every one of the branches of their current government in order to take back control of their country/democracy from the GOP? The answer to this question may very well face many Americans in the immediate future.
Given the occurrence of the right set of nationwide catalysts can the U.S. Military be effectively used to retake control of our country and our democracy from the GOP? Given the fact that our country and our democracy was ultimately given birth by our forefathers through the barrel of a gun do we stand on the threshold of repeating history?
