Ever since the Mueller Report came out, Donald Trump’s most diehard supporters have crowed that it did quite the opposite of tanking their dear one’s presidency. Quite the opposite–they have insisted to all and sundry that Robert Mueller’s findings were a complete and total exoneration of Trump, and proved there was no collusion and no obstruction. Never mind that Mueller himself insisted that he could not exonerate Trump. And never mind that a number of federal investigations are well underway.
But of course, such little things as actual facts never got in the way of a campaign of alternative facts. And apparently that campaign is still well underway. According to a rabidly pro-Trump pastor and “prophet,” there’s a reason the Mueller Report wasn’t the silver bullet that many Trump foes hoped it would be. Why? Drum roll, please–a secret prayer from Trump himself.
Ever since Jim Bakker returned to television, he has insisted that “PTL” now stands for “Prophets Talking Loud.” One of those prophets is Hank Kunneman, founder and pastor of Lord of Hosts Church and One Voice Ministries in Omaha. It turns out that Kunneman is as rabidly pro-Trump as any preacher. For instance, in 2018, he told Sid Roth that God chose Trump to be president in order to reestablish Christians’ right to dominion over this country. No, this isn’t snark. People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch got a clip.
And on July 3, as part of a “Pray for America” event at Lord of Hosts Church, Kunneman called for “angelic reinforcements” to ensure Trump is reelected in 2020. Watch here.
For the last two days, Kunneman and his wife, Brenda, have been at Bakker’s new abode in the Ozarks to share a series of “fulfilled and new prophetic words for America.” On Thursday, Kunneman shared one of those “words”–there’s a very good reason the Mueller Report didn’t result in the tanking of the Trump administration. Supposedly, Trump called in the most powerful reinforcement he could call in–Almighty God. Right Wing Watch got a clip.
Kunneman said that God had a message for those who scoff at the idea of Trump being any kind of Christian–they didn’t know “what he prays in secret,” and they would learn soon enough when the Mueller Report was released. Supposedly, God had told Kunneman that Trump had secretly asked him to keep the Mueller Report from tanking him.
This prophecy said it will be the secret prayer of President Trump that said, ‘God, nobody believes me. Lord, I need your help.’ And sometimes it is the simple things like that God hears in secret, that it takes a prophet to hear in secret, to reveal why certain things are happening.
Well, that’s interesting. So if we’re to believe Kunneman, God must have told Attorney General William Barr to summarize it in such a way that Mueller himself wrote Barr to complain that it didn’t “capture the context” of his findings. And even before then, Mueller’s aides, who were notoriously tight-lipped throughout the course of the investigation, claimed that the report was far more damning than Barr made it out to be. If you believe that, there’s a bridge in Brooklyn up for sale.
And if this really was an answer to prayer from Trump, then why did Trump himself rant for days on end about this investigation being a”WITCH HUNT!” driven by “13 angry Democrats”? And why did several Trump diehards’ heads explode after Mueller’s first public comments? After all, if the Almighty himself kept Mueller from tanking their dear one, they should have been applauding, not railing.
All things considered, it looks like we have a case of another Trump-worshiping pastor who is willing to go to any length to keep his followers bowing and praying to the orange god he helped make.
