One “wink-wink” campaign promise that Donald Trump continues to keep to his followers who probably always have a bottle of bleach on hand (because nothing gets their white sheets whiter) is to continually disenfranchise any and all people of color, as well as the working class people who both did, and were smart enough to not, vote for him.
In this regard, even though Republicans continue to spit on his non-conservative ramblings, though unfortunately only figuratively and in secret; he still manages to uphold their most sacred ideals.
- Screw over average citizens, the environment, and people who hate getting shot.
- Do it all for money.
- Cover it up with lies.
- And, repeat.
President Obama rejected expanding the Keystone XL Pipeline and blocked the expansion of the Dakota Access Pipeline. However, both were part of Trump’s many
autocratic unrealistic dangerous wtf campaign promises. Trump wanted to continue building these deathbringers by executive order, for the sake of American jobs. Even though the fact that the temporary nature of the jobs, for the tradeoff of both environmental destruction and potential loss of human life, is a big reason why Obama halted them to begin with.
dream nightmare came true today. And, as Kristen Welker reported on MSNBC, on the company building the DAPL listed projected temporary labor jobs on their website at 8,000-12,000. But, the number of permanent jobs are far less coming in around 40.
The State Department website list the temporary jobs number around 42,000 for Keystone XL pipeline, with permanent jobs equal to around 50. Of course, with Trump in charge of negotiations, these will all probably become involuntary volunteer positions. Other journalists and media contributors had additional facts to add on Twitter.
But of course it wouldn’t be part of the “Trump catastrophe” brand, if this was actually the first time that he threatened the literal lives of an entire group of Americans, in the name of oil.
Or even the second.
Or even the third (and I wish it stopped there, or just in general), which actually came up in a press conference on Sunday. When in an oft expected twist, Trump stood in front of a CIA memorial built for those who selflessly gave up their lives for their country for no recognition or personal gain whatsoever; while threatening to commit a violation of the Geneva Convention for a potential gain. Which of course, Trump sacrifice Sean Spicer, moronically doubled down on in front of the White House Press Corp and the world.
Well apparently “Mr. Discretion” wasn’t told by the other “p” presidents, Putin and Pence, to keep his mouth shut on this one. Because there are currently 50 troops on the ground in Iraq, helping train troops there to actually defeat ISIS – instead of just talking about defeating ISIS to stoke Islamaphobia. The Atlantic reports the potential repercussions of this round of ‘foot up ass – in mouth’ syndrome:
When Trump made statements like this as a private citizen they could be safely ignored. Now that he is president they have immediate, global consequences. They reached, for example, a 27-year-old Iraqi who is fighting ISIS. Here is how he responded: “I participated in the attack against the Americans by attacking them with mortars and roadside bombs, and I’m ready to do it again,” he told war correspondent Borzou Daragahi. “We kept our ammunition and weapons from the time the Americans left for fighting ISIS. But once ISIS is gone we will save our weapons for the Americans.” Is America well served by a president who needlessly evokes that reaction?
How about I let the Sioux Tribe have the last word on this one.
