Here’s the comment that Louise Hartmann deleted for being ” an off-topic personal attack.” Seriously? I don’t see it. Let me know what you think:
I was also pleased with the President’s speech, but Thom is head over heals! It’s like listening to one of my hopelessly codependent girlfriends rationalize reconciliation with a lover who promises the moon, but cheats on her all over town.
“He said he really loves me- and I just KNOW that THIS TIME he’ll be different.”
First of all… All the President did was GIVE A SPEECH! That’s what he DOES. He gives really good speeches and then he caves in, ignores his base, gives Republicans EVERYTHING they want and MORE… and the working class continues to plunge into serfdom… But you’re right, you’re right… at 50 mph, rather than the 70 mph Republicans demand.
No… Obama did NOT call out Reaganomics. Yes, he gave a general history of how we got into this mess – but he gave the Republicans a COMPLETE PASS. If you think the average American who isn’t a Thom Hartmann fan can figure out that when Obama says, “as far back as the 1980s, America started amassing debt at more alarming levels,” he is REPUDIATING REAGANOMICS then you’re WAY over the moon for this smooth talker and seriously need to come back to Earth.
What he DID do was lie and say that Republicans and Democrats came together to balance the Clinton budget when the budget passed without a SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTE! Shouldn’t he have the decency to allow the so-called “Party of Personal Responsibility” to take RESPONSIBILITY for their actions? Obama is playing both sides of the fence and doing the American People a disservice in the process by HELPING REPUBLICANS rewrite history. Republicans have no problem LYING about Democrats, the least we can do is TELL THE TRUTH about them.
So… Obama gives a good speech yesterday and TODAY meets with the Cat Food Commission as HIS starting point… and Thom Hartmann thinks liberals should “grow up” and ACCEPT the smooth talk over the action?
Sure… I did enjoy the fact that the President invited Paul Ryan to sit in the front row and then basically call him what he is – a coward. It IS cowardly to be a “kiss up/kick down” bully – and I am hoping above hope that the President starts FOR ONCE to back his rhetoric with ACTION… but seriously… Listening to Thom FAWN over the President’s WORDS like a smitten schoolgirl made me realize why the leadership in this White House has no respect for their liberal base – it’s the same way the two timing boyfriend has absolutely no respect for the woman whom he cheats on openly because she constantly welcomes him back to her bed with open arms – and all it took were the smooth promises of “baby, YOU know no one will ever love you like I do.”
