Back in February the Don of Ignorance (aka Donald Trump) reversed bathroom protections for trans students. Why talk about it in August? Because it’s a setback, not a loss. Because people are still fighting, and while the battle front is shifting to the military lets not forget about students.
The reversal of the federal protections means the decision has been pushed back to the states. A heavy blow no doubt for the trans community, but people are still out there determined to be heard. Now more than ever is the time for public awareness and knowledge.
There’s been a lot of dissent to anti-discrimination laws ranging from laughable to shameful. It’s time to set the record straight (or queer or yah know whatever floats your boat).
It pains me to mention Fox’s Tucker Carlson, and not just because he looks like the kind of frat guy who butt-chugs on a dare. It pains me because he is ignorantly ill informed and a lot of people subscribe to him.
If you haven’t heard of him, consider yourself lucky and believe me when I say I’m sorry for including this link where he puts on an angry circus show.
If you don’t want to watch Tuck (Cuck) Carlson invent phony doubt against reason I don’t blame you. I’ll summarize. His argument is you can’t build the first floor because you haven’t built the tenth.
The conversation is about STUDENTS and he jumps to ‘charlatans stealing eleven million dollars from government business aid’. He gets an answer about legitimate standards that are developed/developing and regresses the lack of a ‘universal standard’ to an unregulated free for all.
It’s deceptive. He’s creating make believe problems that are unrelated to the issue in order to shut the conversation down. What’s worse is that he’s good at it.
Unfortunately he influences and reflects a sizeable portion of America. That’s why it’s important to be educated on the issue. Even issues that aren’t strictly, yah know, relevant. Anti-discrimination laws for students should be a no brainer, but because of fear mongrels like him here goes:
-There is no evidence of people faking transgender identity to rip off benefits.
-There standards for trans identity are not universal but certainly exist.
Everyone should be free to pee in peace. Don’t be swayed by deceitful rhetoric. Lets let Teri the trans man, complete with male pattern baldness, whizz in the men’s room, because lets face it. It’s more comfortable for everyone.
