2012 is over. Though the people wholly rejected Romney, and thus being ruled by an outright plutocrat who made a fortune firing Americans and sending their jobs to low-wage nations, the task of reviving the working class has just begun. Let’s not forget that President Obama is the only Democratic President to have ever offered Social Security to its enemies as a bargaining chip. Fact is, despite right wing whining that the President being an avowed “Socialist,” he’s not even a liberal. From “Obamacare” to the Payroll tax cut, his policies are corporatist, not populist. This is a problem – especially when liberal policies are what’s needed to remedy the CON destruction of the American working class. Those who live and operate in the “Reality-Based Community” know this to be true, but if we take a gander to the proverbial “right,” we see that we’re living among people who are frantic about things that exist only in their minds.
The disasters of decline that plague our nation have been brought to us by the very conservative policies that the Republicans are, right now, continuing to shove down our choking throats. Republicans in he halls of power don’t work alone, though. They advance their agenda with the help of an army of useful idiot “average Joe” CONS whose purpose is to infest the internet, poison our public discourse, and waste all of our time with “issues” whose resemblance to reality is purely coincidental.
As someone who confronts these useful idiots on a daily basis, let me tell you, it’s damn tedious to have to continuously debunk the same right wing fantasies and lies again and again – especially when there’s so much legitimate work to do. There’s plenty of distressing things President Obama has actually done that these freaks could attack him for. The fact that they don’t just illustrates, once again, that CONS lack the maturity to function in a truly free society, and their leaders are unfit to hold leadership positions in a modern nation.
Wedded to Fantasy: The “Average Joe” Republican is Plutocracy’s Useful Idiot
Case in point is this ridiculous “Obama Christmas Carol” video created by an “average Joe” CON as “an animated musical look at the first 3 years of the Obama presidency with a Christmas-y twist.”
In truth, the video is a laundry list of the ridiculous fantasies CONS have wasted our time with since President Obama assumed the office he was legally elected to. Take a gander into the propagandized mind of a useful idiot of the plutocracy. (Don’t forget to “vote down” the video and tell its author that his video sucks.)
Here’s the lyrics, with fact-based rebuttals (CONS will ignore anyway):
On his first day in office, Obama gave to me
A federal spending spree.
On his second day in office, Obama gave to me
Tax-cheating cronies and a bailout of AIG
“The Treasury Department says it has received an additional $2.7 billion from the sale of American International Group stock. The sale comes one day after the government reported a profit on its four-year investment in the bailed-out financial firm.”
On his third day in office, Obama gave to me
Czars in the Whitehouse,
George Bush had MORE “czars” and more appointees than Obama. As usual, the Republican leadership simply tickle the inherently-cowardly and willfully-ignorant Republican brain, confident their useful idiot “average Joes” know nothing about the history of presidential advisers, and are fearful of a foreign-sounding moniker.
“Ever since the recession, Republicans have regularly denounced the Fed for taking steps to help the economy, warning that runaway inflation is just around the corner. But these predictions have been repeatedly discredited by the path inflation has actually taken.” Link.
and a free-falling currency
A free-falling currency? Where? In fact, the reason the United States lost its triple-A credit rating was a direct result of REPUBLICAN obstruction.
On his fourth day in office Obama gave to me
Romney and Republicans wanted to “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt.” In fact, all you have to do is look at their policies to figure out that the Republican mission is to turn America into a third world nation of Serfs and Lords. After all, they then everyone would know their “natural” place and the world would be less complex and scary for their base of racist white men.
Fortunately, here in Reality, where normal people fight to create a society that works for all, General Motors is operating in the black again, (decent) American jobs are saved, and “Government Motors” returned a profit for “We The People.”
“…the results – a million jobs saved, a revived auto industry, an economic sector salvaged – merit a sigh of relief. The bailouts proved a useful tool in stopping a deepening business spiral, saved jobs across the country, and enabled a reeling Detroit to reverse its fortunes.” Link.
Of course, all their criticism of “Government Motors” and whining to “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” didn’t stop the filthy Repugs from trying to run from their “Let them Eat Cake” record and attempting to take credit for the investment they opposed. How very Republican of them!
Ho hum. It’s a tell tale sign that we’ve spotted a useful idiot when an “average Joe” Republican rails about so-called “posthumous voters.” Given the fact that Republicans cannot legitimately win a national election on the merit of their class war ideas, they must prevent people from exercising the right so many have died for… they lynchpin of democracy… the right to vote. The myth of “posthumous voters” is pulled right out of the bowels of right wing “think tanks” as an excuse to erect barriers to voting.
“There is almost no voting fraud in America. And none of the lawmakers who claim there is have ever been able to document any but the most isolated cases. The only reason Republicans are passing these laws is to give themselves a political edge by suppressing Democratic votes.” Link.
I’m not exactly sure what “scandalous payoffs” the teabagger is referring to here.
I wonder if he’s getting confused with L. Paul Bremer, the former head of reconstruction in Iraq for Bush, being unable to account for HALF of his budget—as the head of the Coalition Provisional Authority between May 2003 and June 2004. That’s $12 billion to you and me.
He also may be confused with what happened in 2004 when Cheney’s company Halliburton was unable to account for what services it rendered for the $1.8 billion bill it sent to the taxpayers. I wonder if he’s upset thinking about Bunnatine Greenhouse, the Army Corps of Engineers’ chief contracting officer, getting demoted after revealing that KBR, a Halliburton subsidiary, unfairly received billions of dollars worth of no-bid contracts in Iraq? Naaa… you see. Teabaggers never get upset about things that actually happened if a Republican perpetrated it. Faux News has a vested interest in tickling their useful idiot funny bone (usually, the scientifically-verified inherent conservative racism) to keep him misinformed and voting for the very people turning him into a compliant serf.
Poor teabaggers. Bad news is good news to them, and good news is bad news. Vice President Joe Biden put it best during his debate with Ayn Rand acolyte and zombie-eyed granny starver Paul Ryan when he said, “I have never met two guys who are more down on America across the board. We’re told everything is going bad. We have 5.2 million new jobs, private sector jobs. We need more, but 5.2 million — if they’d get out of the way, if they get out of the way and let us pass the tax cut for the middle class, make it permanent, if they get out of the way and pass the — pass the jobs bill, if they get out of the way and let us allow 14 million people who are struggling to stay in their homes because their mortgages are upside-down, but they never missed a mortgage payment — just get out of the way.
Stop talking about how you care about people. Show me something. Show me a policy. Show me a policy where you take responsibility.
And by the way, they talk about this Great Recession if it fell out of the sky, like, oh my goodness, where did it come from? It came from this man voting to put two wars in a credit card, to at the same time put a prescription drug benefit on the credit card, a trillion- dollar tax cut for a — very wealthy. I was there. I voted against him. I said, no, we can’t afford that. And now all of a sudden these guys are so seized with a concern about the debt that they created!”
VP Biden knows that here in Reality, private sector data reveals that the economy is growing at a faster pace than expected.
From ABC News:
“Compared to the public sector, the private sector is growing substantially. In May, the government shed 13,000 jobs while private companies added 82,000 employees.
Over the past year the private sector has added nearly 2 million jobs and GDP has grown by 2 percent. According to Christopher Thornberg, an economist and co-founder of Beacon Economics, that is a ‘normal pace’ for growth.”
That Socialist rag, Forbes, had some more good news:
“A warning—if your politics and ideology do not permit you to accept good economic news without experiencing a severe panic attack, you might wish to avert your eyes as I’m afraid this is going to upset you.
According to the Bloomberg Economic Surprise Index, which compares 36 indicators with the predictions of various analysts, “the economy is improving more than professional forecasters anticipated, particularly in data on employment and housing.”
Citing the Index, Bloomberg reports–
“The index, based on gauges compiled by private businesses and trade groups in addition to government, confirms U.S. growth is generating jobs in the face of a global slowdown and looming federal spending cuts and tax increases known as the fiscal cliff.”
And it gets better.
According to Citigroup’s Economic Surprise Index, things are even better than what was reported by the Bloomberg measurement as the Citygroup data reveals a dramatic jump in economic activity—rising from this year’s low of negative 65.3 on July 19th to today’s positive 49.4.
According to the National Association of Realtors, the sale of previously owned houses rose 7.9 percent in August, reaching a two year high while automobile sales in September came in just south of 14.9 million, the best since 2008.
And then there is that old standby, the Thompson Reuters/University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index which rose to 83.1 from last month’s 78.3 and, more significantly, reached its highest number since September 2007, before the recession began.
Sometimes good news is just that—good news.” Read the rest of the article here.
Like VP Biden said, if ONLY Republicans got out of the way and stopped their treasonous obstructionist plot to further empower the powerful and turn the working class into the working poor, the economy would be recovering from Republican destruction much faster.
“Normally in a recession and recovery government at all levels increase public employment – this has happened in every GOP administration – and much of that increase is funded by federal government grants to the state and local governments. But since the Stimulus, the GOP has blocked any substantial help for the states, and in GOP led states severe austerity cuts have been the rule – even including GOP governors rejecting projects fully funded by the federal government. The economic cost of this is far more than just those 600 thousand jobs – the spillover effect on private business and local economies has been devastating – when you factor in all these effects the total job cost of austerity has been estimated at 2.3 million jobs.” Read the rest here.
And my very own EBT
Right. Republicans love empowering the powerful because they fantasize about being trickled on. As for following the instructions of the “Savior” they pretend to follow when trying to rob women of their autonomy… you know… feeding the poor, clothing the naked and taking care of the sick… forget it. Republicans love to rail against offering help to the people who find themselves on the losing end of Reaganomics, but facts are facts… George W. Bush’s administration expanded eligibility for food stamps to get more Americans to apply, which contributed to an increase in recipients.
Tickling the inherent racism of the “average Joe” useful idiot CONS that identify with their oppressors, Faux News pushes a “conservative myth that there is an emerging “culture of dependency” and a “culture of entitlement” because of the supposed notion that people would rather collect food stamp benefits than work. In fact, most beneficiaries of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are working-class Americans who already have jobs, and most leave the program after one year.” Link.
On his fifth day in office, Obama gave to me
“Green energy?” I WISH! A green energy revolution could create millions of American jobs and release us from the grip on Big Oil, so Republicans hate it… and inform their useful idiots to fall in line.
From The Huffington Post: “By any measure, President Barack Obama fares far better than his Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, who has morphed from an early supporter of clean energy, fuel efficiency and emissions caps to a climate change agnostic given to openly ridiculing the issue.
But the activists also indict Obama, under whose leadership, they say, climate change has gone from an urgent matter to a mere afterthought.”
In Republican World, high gas prices are the President’s fault – unless that President is a Republican.
… and Republicans never let reality get in the way of their manias.
“During George W. Bush’s presidency, gas prices ranged between $1.12 and $4.11. The Bush-era lows were lower and the highs were higher than at any time during Obama’s four years. Gas prices move with the world markets. The president, whoever it is, should get neither credit nor blame.” Link.
three years of economic gloom
Despite Republican obstruction and their well-documented plot to block economic recovery as a 2012 election strategy, the economy is rebounding. Could you imagine the progress if Republicans stopped shoving their tried-and-failed ideology down our throats and simply got out of the way?!
And a tax on my Christmas tree
Regardless of the fact that a Christmas tree tax never happened, the pathetic, right wing dupes ate this one up. Here’s the story: the Obama Administration proposed a 15 cents tax on Christmas Tree GROWERS – not on sales. Faux News went all a-tizzy (as the fact this dupe included it in his sad propaganda piece can attest) but the tax never actually went through. Given I’m not a Faux News victim, I hadn’t actually heard of this until I saw this dupe’s video and then deciding to take a glimpse into the manipulated mind of a teabagger. But, all it took was a 30 second Google search to find out that the “tax on my Christmas tree” was another canard manufactured by the people who rely on useful idiots to slit their own throats on their command… and the useful idiots who are happy to oblige.
On his sixth day in office, Obama gave to me
After blocking every attempt to offer relief to the American people as a 2012 election strategy, the filthy Repug now whine about the fruits of their obstructionist labor.
“Obama proposed a major jobs measure that would have created nearly two million jobs in an election year. Debate was blocked by filibuster. The jobs bill was broken down into small parts, some consisting only of tax cuts. Only one part, to help veterans find jobs, was passed (a tiny fraction of the overall jobs legislation). In total, Republicans blocked entirely (not even allowing debate on the floor, which would put them on record) 17 jobs measures.” Link.
Putting aside the hypocrisy of Republicans insisting that government doesn’t “create jobs” then turning around to chastise the government for not creating jobs…. When Bush left office, the economy was hemorrhaging 800,000 jobs a month. “The economy has now added private sector jobs for 29 months running.” So, yes. America is definitely better off under President Obama than it ever was under ANY Republican. Link.
Knee-jerk teabagger criticism to every move the President makes them look especially ridiculous. Such as when Romney couldn’t wait to get his smirk in front of the camera minutes after our embassy was attacked.
From The Guardian of the UK article, “Mitt Romney’s ill-judged attack on Obama over Libya backfires”
“The Republican nominee’s smirk after remarks on Libya was trivial – yet spoke volumes about his fitness for the presidency.” Link.
big NO to drilling,
During Obama’s first term, the U.S. has so far issued 1,304 new offshore leases and the most permits for deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico since 2007. That’s not exactly “no” to “drilling.”
Let’s not forget that domestic drilling doesn’t do a damn thing for gas prices, as all oil goes on the global market.
“This drill drill drill thing is tired,” said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service, which calculates gas prices for the motorist organization AAA. “It’s a simplistic way of looking for a solution that doesn’t exist.” Link.
Sounds like Tom Kloza is just as tired of teabaggers as I am. These sad dupes never let reality get in the way of their manias.
Now there’s something we can agree on! Unlike CONS – who long for an authoritarian daddy to save them from the scary, complex world. Liberals openly criticize their elected representatives when appropriate.
And a lack of transparency
“Dr. Patrice McDermott, director of Open the Government, a watchdog group, told IPS, ‘The federal government under the Bush administration has shown its commitment to secrecy by where it has put its money – more no-bid contracts, fewer government employees processing FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] requests, less on training on classification issues, and almost 200 dollars spent on keeping secrets to every dollar allocated to open them.’
‘Given our growing deficit, the next administration faces difficult choices in restoring accountable government,’ he added.
In its ‘Secrecy Report Card 2008,’ released Sept. 9, the group concluded that the Bush administration ‘exercised unprecedented levels not only of restriction of access to information about federal government’s policies and decisions, but also of suppression of discussion of those policies and their underpinnings and sources.'” Link.
In contrast, Liberals are not opposed to criticizing President Obama for failing to deliver on his promise of transparency.
On his seventh day in office, Obama gave to me
Sorry, dupe. The only “double dip recession” exists in Glenn Beck-dictated fantasies. In fact, President Obama’s policies saved America from the second Republican Great Depression in a century.
Really? The “free speech” of teabaggers has been “repressed?” Where? I find this comical coming from useful idiots who paraded around with automatic weapons because billionaire-funded “think tanks” told them to be upset that the taxes of billionaires might go up … and a black man had been legally elected to the Presidency. AGAIN these sad dupes are consistent only in their inconsistency and hypocrisy – and were quite content to acquiesce to the Bush Administration’s “Free Speech Zones” and cheer the most secretive and most egregiously repressive administration to ever squat in the White House.
New World Order,
I suppose this dupe is thinking of George HW. Bush.
wide open border
Again, in the Repug alternate universe, swarms of “illegals” are allowed to pour over the border and take advantage of Obama’s “gifts.” Here in Reality, President Obama has deported a record number of immigrants for the fourth straight year.
“Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials announced on Friday that the agency surpassed its record number of deportations of 2011, but vows to initiate reforms to lessen non-criminal deportations.” Link.
And assault on democracy
I suppose these freaks consider brown people actually exercising their right to vote as “an assault on democracy.”
Again, here in Reality, the “assault on democracy” comes from Republican voter suppression tactics designed to block Democratic-leaning voters from the polls.
“Floridians endured election chaos and marathon voting lines this year, largely thanks toreduced early voting hours, voter purges, and voter registration restrictions pushed by Republican legislators. In an exclusive report by the Palm Beach Post, several prominent Florida Republicans are now admitting that these election law changes were geared toward suppressing minority and Democratic votes.” Link.
You see, Republicans loathe when the serfs vote. You see, when the small people get to exercise the right so many of them have died for – the very lynchpin of the type of free society Republicans pretend to love – they get in the way of the CONservative mission to turn the government of the United States into an appendage of the affairs of billionaires.
On his eighth day in office, Obama gave to me
What? You mean teabaggers don’t like “corporate welfare.” We couldn’t tell by the way they block any attempt to strip Big Oil of their taxpayer subsidy and especially by the way they equate “freedom” with the “freedom” of transnational corporations to ride America to the bank without pesky government regulation.
stock market tanking,
Actually, the Stock Market LOVES President Obama.
“The Dow Jones Industrial Average has surged 60% since Barack Obama was inaugurated as president three years ago, according to research firm Bespoke Investment Group. This means President Obama is one of only five presidents that have witnessed the blue-chip index surge more than 50% during their first three years in office.
The best return came under FDR, when the stock market surged a whopping 190% during the first three years of his term. Stocks also rallied 60% during President Eisenhower’s first three years and 60% amid the same time frame for Bill Clinton.” Read the rest here.
printing presses cranking
Heaven forbid a printing press cranks out knowledge to be shared! After all, in teabagger land, (wilfull) ignorance is strength.
And welfare dependency.
There’s that racist dog whistle! Meanwhile, here in Reality, the REAL “welfare queens” are people like Mitt Romney who made a fortune using the private equity business model, founded on tax-payer subsidies.
“…without the tax-breaks given to interest payment, the private equity business model would never have been born. Those tax-breaks are nothing but a taxpayer subsidy, paid for by everybody else picking up the slack for Mitt Romney and his crony corporate raiders.” Link.
and the Koch Brothers who use their $1 Billion-a-year taxpayer-funded biofuel subsidy to bankroll their teabagger useful idiots, right wing libertarian useful idiots and Republican puppets in government. Link.
On his ninth day in office, Obama gave to me
Oil covered beaches,
Desperate Repugs rushed to brand the BP oil spill “Obama’s Katrina.” But, as with all desperate Republican fantasies, it was the Bush administration’s lax attitude toward regulation was actually to blame. In fact, the BP oil spill can, more appropriately, be called “Bush’s SECOND Katrina.”
“The Bush White House, with vice president Dick Cheney leading the charge, pandered to the oil industry from Day 1. Cheney filled the staff of the Minerals Management Service with “oil industry toadies.” As a result, Bush’s 2005 energy bill, following a Minerals Management Service recommendation, dropped a requirement that oil companies fit every deepwater oil well with a $500,000 “acoustical regulator” — an automatic shut-off switch that could have prevented the BP spill.” Link.
Republicans have very short attention spans – especially when the person talking isn’t pining for billionaires to trickle on them.
And a desperate craving for tea.
“Desperate” is the key word in that sentence.
On his tenth day in office, Obama gave to me
Joe Biden gaffing, world leaders laughing
Actually, dupe. World leaders and world citizens laugh at teabaggers, and respect President Obama. Unlike Bush, whom they mocked and loathed.
And an end to civility.
Here are the people who cheered when Joe Wilson yelled, “you lie” during the President’s State of the Union address. These are the morons who were coached to disrupt town hall meetings when the President dare attempt to help America join the rest of the world by offering health care as a right of citizenship, not a privilege of wealth. These are the same people who publicly stated that their number one goal was to make Barack Obama a one-term President. (As with all Republican promises, they failed.)
It’s amazing that these teabaggers who call the President everything but a mother’s son pine for “civility.”
We might be able to have some “civility” if Republicans chose to embrace reality and stopped trying to turn America into an appendage of the affairs of billionaires.
On his eleventh day in office, Obama gave to me
Garofalo shrilling, Chris Matthews thrilling, Oprah endorsing, Damon discoursing, Alec Baldwin tweeting, George Clooney bleating, ex-Beatle crooning, View ladies swooning, Maher getting madder, Moore getting fatter
There’s that CON “civility,” again! God, these teabaggers are such tedious bores.
So I’m canceling my cable TV.
You mean, you won’t be a Faux News victim anymore?! Since Faux News is proven to make people less informed than those who watch no news at all, you’ll be better off.
On his twelfth day in office, Obama took from me
The last of my liberty.
You mean the “liberty” to go bankrupt via a “uniquely American” medical bankruptcy? Or the “liberty” not to have a black man in the White House?
Arguing With Conservatives Makes Them Cling to Their Stupidity More Tightly
This is what we’re up against – people who have been propagandized to believe they’re not “free” unless a corporation can use them as a mere host from which to suck profit and discard.
It is futile to argue with them. In fact, a study out of Yale University confirms what we liberals (normal people) already know… namely, rebutting conservative lies with facts only makes conservatives cling to their lies even harder. In other words, there’s no arguing with conservatives – and science backs it up.
They are the useful idiots of the plutocracy. Rather than waste time arguing with them, we must continue to evolve without them.
