For the better part of two years, Donald Trump has screamed to all who would listen that there was “NO COLLUSION!” between him and Russia. Among those echoing the cry have been Lynette Hardaway and her sister Rochelle Richardson, better known as “Diamond and Silk.” The are among the most obnoxious members of a very exclusive club–blacks who are all in for Trump.
Diamond and Silk, based out of Fayetteville, North Carolina, say they were lifelong Democrats before becoming Republicans in order to ride the “Trump Train.” But you wouldn’t know it by how cartoonish they sound at times. For instance, after the now-infamous press conference that led to CNN’s Jim Acosta being falsely accused of assaulting a White House staffer, these two ladies joined Lou Dobbs to echo their dear one in calling Acosta an “enemy of the people.” Watch here.
And when Marco Rubio called for Trump to rethink his plans to declare a national emergency in order to build a wall along the southern border, the two sisters were so outraged that they demanded Rubio resign for–horrors!–doing his job and upholding the separation of powers. No, this isn’t snark. Watch them say it on “Fox & Friends” here.
On Friday, we learned, once again, just how obnoxious and cartoonish Diamond and Silk can get. They demanded that those who pushed for Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s attempt to hack the election be prosecuted.
In the hours after news broke that Mueller had finished his two-year probe and had not recommended any new indictments, Diamond and Silk were among those on Deplorable Twitter who saw this as total vindication of Trump.
But the sisters went further than that. In response to Democratic calls for the full report to be released, they demanded that those who took part in the investigation and supported it be punished for doing so–and severely.
That night, Diamond and Silk doubled down on this line with another Trump diehard, Dobbs. Watch here.
Dobbs noted that according to Fox News legal experts, “the president has been vindicated.” Diamond agreed. With Silk nodding along, Diamond claimed that full transparency demanded that those who took part in the investigation be prosecuted.
I hear Chuck Schumer, he’s crying and demanding that this report be released, and he wants transparency. And we want transparency too. So if the report is released, everybody that orchestrated and participated in this collusion witch hunt, this Russia collusion witch hunt, needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! This has weighed the American people down, the president and his family down for no reason at all. They need to all be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Um, ladies? Have you been paying attention? Trump is nowhere near out of the woods yet. For one thing, when federal prosecutors in Manhattan released a tranche of documents related to the raid on the offices of longtime Trump lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, a whopping 19 pages related to an “illegal campaign contribution scheme” were redacted–an indication that an investigation related to said scheme is still very much underway. Moreover, it should be noted, that investigation is being overseen by a U. S. Attorney appointed by Trump himself.
If that wasn’t enough, we learned earlier this week that First Son-in-Law Jared Kushner frequently uses the encrypted IM service WhatsApp for official White House business–including contacts with foreign leaders. When cybersecurity expert and former FBI agent Clint Watts learned this, he was aghast, as we saw on Thursday night’s edition of MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour.” Watch here.
Watts told host Brian Williams that Kushner’s use of WhatsApp is “far more egregious” than Hillary Clinton’s much-maligned private email server, since it involves “foreign business interactions” walled off from the rest of the federal government. It could potentially add to the already massive legal trouble Kushner already faces–and virtually his only way out of it would be to sing about his father-in-law.
Had Diamond and Silk been paying attention to these developments, they wouldn’t have been so willing to spike the football. If they took their blinders–orange-tinted or red-tinted, depending on the mood–long enough, they would see that they may be calling for the wrong people to be locked up.
